Discovery of Ethnic Groups in Kyaing Tong

In this trip, you will get the adventure and interacting with different ethnical groups around Kyaing Tong region.

Itinerary Details

DAY 1. HEHO – KYAING TONG ( – / L / D )

Upon arrival at Kyaing Tong Airport, proceed driving to visit the significant MAHA MUNI Pagoda which is located in the central city. Continue you will have to look at the Khun Shan monastery of Wat Zon Kham and also visit to see the famous Naung Tone Lake.

Lunch will be served at local restaurant.
Transfer to the hotel.

Dinner and overnight stay in Kyaing Tong.


After breakfast, drive 1 ½ hrs to HO JING village, a narrow and steep road by car where you can study the rice whisky production and a nice chat with Akhar woman who wears the complete traditional costume with silver coins.

After talking, you will have more hiking to nearby two or three Akha villages to see their everyday rural daily life. Return to Kyaing Tong city and along the way, you will enjoy the panoramic view from the top 1,300 meters.

Upon arrival, proceed to learn at the Shan lacquer ware shop which is different from Bagan styles. Complete a day by extended visit to the Lone Tree Hills where you will have a good view of surrounding Kyaing Tong area. Return to hotel.

Dinner and overnight stay in Kyaing Tong.


After breakfast, stroll through the lively Kyaing Tong morning market which sells by different ethnic groups. From there, you will see the green vegetables, fresh fruits, regional products and foods and many handicrafts and arts.

Transfer back to hotel and meet with your trekking guide and start the hiking tour to PIN TAUK region where you will reach 1 hr drive by car.

Arrive, you will drop off the car and see the dragon fruits plantations (if possible). Starts walking tour through the La Hu, Akha tribes where you will see the Baptist Church and School. Akha, a majority ethnic groups around Kyaing Tong area. Then you will pass through the beautiful Pin Tauk Water fall and enjoy a picnic lunch box.

After lunch, continue walking up another Anh village. The villagers are wearing black costumes and their teeth are black. You will visit to one of the Anh local house where you can meet with the family and also study their Nat (Spirits) religion. Return to Kyaing Tong. Upon arrival, the rest of the day is leisure.

Trekking duration: Approximately 2 to 6 hours.

After an early breakfast, drive 2 hrs to LOIMWE, a picturesque hill station with British colonial town. On the way to Loimwe, stops visiting to see the different ethics of Akha tribes’ villages. Then, you will visit to the Old Catholic Church and also have a look at the charming colonial architecture buildings.

After sightseeing, return to Kyaing Tong city, along the way back; enjoy watching the magnificent view from 1,600 meters High Mountain, green pickle tea fields on the slope of Mountains and you can get the cool fresh air.

After lunch at local restaurant, you will directly transfer to the Kyaing Tong airport for domestic flight to Yangon.
